Arie Reedyk died peacefully in Peterborough at St. Josephs at Fleming on May 30th. He was very well cared for by the wonderful people at St. Josephs. Unfortunately, Arie had two strokes that left him with Alzheimer's disease during the last two years.
Arie leaves his wife Pat and three sons Russell (Mandy), Robert and Jim as well as four grandchildren Alexis, Alyssa, Willow, and Benjamin.
Arie was a professor of math and physics at Ryerson University in Toronto for 35 years. Following his retirement, he joined his wife and son at their family store Chumleighs in Peterborough. He subsequently opened another Chumleighs in Belleville that is managed by his brother Peter and sister-in-law Annette. Arie loved teaching but thought nothing topped being in business for himself.
Arie was a very well-respected person — a man of real integrity who was loved very dearly by his family and friends. He was without a doubt a rare human being. As per Arie's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial. Thoughts and remembrances of Arie can be sent to email@example.com.
