Obituary for Doris Fordham (Bell)

FORDHAM, Doris Mary (nee Bell)

Peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Saturday September 10, 2022. Born in Smith Township, Doris was predeceased by her husband Kenneth, parents Bruce and Olive Bell and siblings Norman Bell, Amy Bell, Burritt Bell and Evelyn Fowler (Wallace). Beloved mother to Brian and Andrew, Doris was Aunt to Helen Davidson (Douglas), Earl Fowler (Kerry) and many great nieces and nephews. Retiring from Lakeridge Health (Oshawa), Doris became an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and enjoyed travel across Canada and abroad, sharing many of those travels with her sister Amy. Prior to being employed with Lakeridge Health (Oshawa), Doris enjoyed many years as a volunteer with the Oshawa General Hospital Auxiliary serving in many roles including the Auxiliary President, and later participating in the introduction of the Palliative Care Unit at the Oshawa General Hospital. In honor of her volunteer service, she was granted lifetime membership to the Hospital Auxiliary Association of Ontario on November 29, 1982. The family would like to extend deep thanks and gratitude to Dr. Becca Webster and the Palliative Care Unit Staff at PRHC. for their care, compassion, dedication throughout this journey over the past year; and for allowing us to be part of their hospital unit family in the final months. Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life and internment will be held at a later date. In memory of Doris, donations can be made to the Toronto Blue Jays Foundation, Sick Kids Foundation, CNIB Guide Dog Program or the PRHC Palliative Care Unit.
