Obituary for Douglas Watt

WATT, Douglas Gordon
In the early hours of the morning on July 7th, 2022, Douglas Watt (1943-2022) in his 80th year, passed peacefully in his sleep at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Douglas enjoyed his life full of wonderful people, places, and events. He enjoyed his career as a Programmer Analyst at G.E., then went on to have a wonderful retirement enjoying their trailer at Miners’ Bay Lodge along with having wonderful travel adventures with his sweetheart. Predeceased by his mother (Florence) and father (Gordon) along with his brother (Jim). He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Sheila (née Robertson), his four children Brian, Melanie (Jason), Rick (Christine), and Jennifer. He is abundantly loved by his grandchildren Alex, Emily, Caitlyn, Brooke, Hayden, and Lia. He was an amazing and devoted husband, father, and Papa. Douglas was passionate about many things including trains, music (it’s not easy to play the bassoon!), word puzzles (and oh my, the puns!), his church, and spending time with his friends and family. The keeper of meticulous lists, he has left his family a legacy in documented pictures, memorable labels (on everything!), and innumerable treasured memories. We love you Dad, and you are deeply missed. A visitation (12:00 p.m.), memorial service (1:00 p.m.), and reception to follow will be held at the Ashburnham Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough, ON, K9H 2A2 on Wednesday, July 13th, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
