Obituary for Elizabeth Chase (Montgomery)

CHASE, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Helen (nee Montgomery) R.N. – Passed away peacefully at Pleasant Meadow Manor, Norwood, on Friday, April 30, 2021. Betty, formerly of Peterborough and born in Tweed, was 83 years of age.
Beloved wife of the late James Chase for 58 years. Dear mother of Andrew (Lori) and David (Joy). Loving Nan of Ethan and Aaron. Sister of Robert Montgomery (late Eleanor) and the late Don Montgomery (late Moira). Betty will be dearly missed by many family and friends.
Betty was part of the Peterborough’s Civic Hospital nursing graduating class of 1958, where she spent the majority of her 39-year career working in the operating room. Betty was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her beloved Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. She was also found at various local rinks cheering on her favourite hockey teams. Betty was always her boy’s biggest sports fan, rarely missing a hockey, baseball, soccer game or practice. Betty cherished her time the most when she was with her grandsons. Whether at the ski hill, ball diamond or football field, she was always there to cheer them on. Her loving and caring soul will be greatly missed, and she will forever be in our hearts.
A private service will be held with immediate family only. A memorial with extended family will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so. Donations in Betty’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. Condolences to the family may be made online, through www.CommunityAlternative.ca
A special “thank you” to the staff and doctors of Pleasant Meadow Manor, Norwood, for the kindness and care they extended to both Jim and Betty Chase during their stays.
