Obituary for Gary Cameron

CAMERON, Gary James
May 15, 1953 ~ March 19, 2023

Passed away peacefully on March 19, 2023, with family by his side at the age of 69, at Centennial Place in Millbrook. Gary was a brave and courageous warrior in his struggle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a rare brain disease.

Gary was the only son of the late Jim and Audrey Cameron; husband to Patti (Dunford) and brother to Eleanor (Paul) Collins, Marilyn Delahaye and Donna-Marie Ortner. Uncle to Shawn (d 2021), Jason, Joseph, Terri-Lynn and Jonathon and their families.

Gary was a meat cutter by trade and spent many years in the retail sector in Peterborough, Barrie and King City. He enjoyed playing guitar and jamming with his buddies, golfing, riding his motorcycle, fishing at the cottage and having a grand time with his friends and family. He'd often say, "there's no such thing as bad beer, just some are better than others" and could pack a great cooler! An avid NASCAR fan, Gary attended races in the US and watched on TV, always cheering on his driver, Tony Stewart #14. A lover of animals, Gary had many pets over the years, most recently Chloe, his adorable Shih-Poo puppy.

Many thanks to the staff at Centennial Place (Millpond home area) for their care and support of Gary over the past three years, especially Michelle (LEA) who befriended Gary from day 1 and kept him busy and entertained on a daily basis.

Rest in Peace Gary. You are now free of all the struggles with the horrible disease PSP. Spread your wings and fly. There are many open arms waiting to welcome you in your next journey. XOXOXO.

In keeping with Gary's wishes, there will be no services of remembrance. Cremation has taken place, with a private family internment to follow at Rosemount Memorial Gardens.

Donations in Gary's memory are appreciated by the family and can be made to Progressive Supranuclear Society (PSP) of Canada or any animal welfare shelter in the area.
