McMILLAN, Georgina (nee Benns)
In her 90th year, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on March 19, 2023. Beloved wife of William (Bill) McMillan. Daughter of the late Bessie and George Benns. Sister of the late Cellia Benns, the late Verna Rose and the late Jack Benns. Lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews and their families.
Her family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Peterborough Regional Health Center who cared for her with exceptional compassion and kindness.
As a young woman, Georgina was a brilliant scientist working for the Government of Canada, a keen photographer and world traveller.
When she married late in life, Georgina happily left her stylish condo in Ottawa for a charming, rambling old house on a large lot in Bridgenorth. There, she began a forty-year journey with "her Bill" whom she adored.
At the Bridgenorth house, she continued her lifelong interest in the natural world as she planned, planted and cared for extensive perennial flower gardens devoted to the birds she loved.
Until the end, Georgina had a smile for everyone. Her quiet manner touched the hearts of all who met her.
Cremation has taken place and as per her wishes there will be no service. Burial will take place at a later time.
