ELLIS: Jeanne (nee: Marshall)
Mum passed away peacefully on Monday, June 12th, 2023, after a brief illness in her 86th year with Katie by her side. Jeanne has joined the love of her life, Louis (d. 2015). Jeanne and Louis were married in 1957, for over 50 years. Most loving of mothers to Kim Westby (Bob), Kate Ellis (Norm Cumming), and the late Steven (d. 1999). Jeanne was the daughter of Alfred and Fanny Marshall. The last of the Marshall girls, she is predeceased by Helen, Marg, and Shirley. Gramma to Kira (Tom), Jacqueline (Hutton), Stacie (Brandon), Kalen (Jeremy), Mark, Adam, and Bailey. Great-Grammy to Camden, Ellie, Isla, Ronan, Theo, Bram, and Soren. Jeanne embraced family and made everyone who came to the family home feel welcome. She was a den-mother to many Petes players, who boarded with Mum and Dad in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. She was like a second Mum to nieces and nephews, and was called Gramma by children who visited. Jeanne has been called to heaven, where there are endless cups of tea, much singing, and riding with Louis in a ’57 Chevy – only she doesn’t need a hat pin any longer! Visitation at Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough, on Monday, June 26th, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service at St. James United Church, 221 Romaine Street, Peterborough, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. A private family interment will take place at Little Lake Cemetery. If desired, donations to St. James United Church would be appreciated. Please note: due to severe allergies, please, no scents or heavy scented flowers.
