Obituary for Johan De Villiers

De VILLIERS, Johan

Johan died peacefully at Extendicare on Sunday, January 8th at the age of 82.

Johan grew up in Pretoria, South Africa and came to Canada with his Canadian wife Patricia in 1974, living first in Toronto for 6 years before moving to Peterborough.

He was a local architect for about 18 years, mainly with his own practice. After retiring, he moved back to South Africa where he worked on projects for South Africa's Rugby World Cup.

Shortly after returning to Canada, he suffered a major stroke and spent his last 6 years at Extendicare Peterborough. Our thanks to the friendly, caring staff there who took such good care of him and made his final days comfortable.

The pride of his life has been his 3 children, Cory (Natasha), Jean and Jennifer (Matt) and his 4 grandsons, Jack, Rourke, Gavin, and Owen. They brought meaning to his life. A private family ceremony will be held.
