Obituary for Larry MacEachern

Larry Richard MacEachern “Uncle Buck” passed away peacefully, with his wife at his side, at PRHC on Monday March 21, 2022 at the age of 74. Larry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lois Margaret (Weber), his sister Gail MacDonald (Danny), his brother Steve (Beth), sons Alec and Allen, nephews Ryan, Nathan, Trevor and niece Shannon. He is predeceased by his parents Sylvia Elaine Lois Field Morrow (Huntsville) and Arnold MacEachern (Dorset).

Larry graduated from Georgian College in 1968 for Marine Mechanics and Small Engine Repair. Larry worked primarily as a mechanic, and then in various policing and law enforcement branches of the public service. He completed his working years at the Chocolate Rabbit, which he co-owned with his wife Lois; if you are a fan of the Highlander, be sure to give a nod of thanks to Larry for his signature truffle.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman, he was happiest in a tree stand or boat, surrounded by the sounds of nature. He was also a lover of old boats and cars, with many a restoration project always on the go. He enjoyed his final years, with his wife Lois, aboard their house boat, and surround by their pride of cats.

Larry was also a proud Mason of Corinthian Lodge # 101, Peterborough"

Larry’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the team in the PRHC Palliative Care Unit for their compassion and support. The family would also like to thank their boat neighbours in C channel for their friendship, support and for helping make Larry’s last days happy ones.

The family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers. Donations in Larry’s name should be directed to the Lakefield Animal Welfare Society (https://www.lakefieldanimalwelfare.org/donate/donation-form/) or PRHC Foundation (https://prhcfoundation.ca/).

A private memorial will take place at a later date.
