Obituary for Mary Thornton (White)
THORNTON, Mary Elizabeth “Betty”
September 4, 1926 ~ November 11, 2022.
Predeceased by her parents, Reverend Leroy and Alice White, her brother Bob and beloved husband Murph. Adored mother of Judy (Gerry), Doug (Joyce), Lori (Mike) and Mary (Gerry). Cherished grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of five.
Betty was a devoted school teacher at former Lindsay Highway and Chemong Public schools. She was a longtime member of Northminister United Church and the UCW. Betty supported Murph in many endeavours, including operating an Oxford County dairy farm and the Polar Pantry store in Bridgenorth. Betty loved to sew, travel, bake, swim, walk, drive, garden and listen to music. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. She was selfless in all that she did and will be sorely missed.
