Obituary for Peter Marrs
Peter Lorne Marrs 1939 - 2023
Wonderful husband, best friend, ski buddy and stern paddler of Wendy (Lord) for fifty years, cherished father of Gavin and Graeme, loved and admired father-in-law of Sarah (Snowdon), and adored Papa of Austin Robert Marrs. Peter was pre-deceased by his parents Marguerite and Lorne and sister Libby (Peter Barnes).
Peter is survived by his brother Michael (Mary Svensk), North Bay and sisters-in-law, Judi (Lord) MacLeod, Jacqui Wakefield, Debbie (Lord) Downs (Dennis) as well as many nieces, nephews and dear cousins who treasured his love, good humour and wisdom.
Peter died peacefully February 23, 2023 on his own terms after a short illness at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
Born in Toronto, raised in Leaside and Agincourt, Peter later lived with his family in Toronto where he worked for many years in the field of civil engineering (University of Toronto ‘64) for the Township of Scarborough and the consulting firm of MMM.
In 1994, subsequent to his engineering career, Peter founded a wine making business in Scarborough, “Grapefully Yours”, where for ten years he was in his happy place sharing his love of wine with his customers who ultimately became friends.
After retirement, Wendy and Peter found their new home in Peterborough where for sixteen years they enjoyed the community and the natural environment of the Kawarthas, hiking trails and paddling rivers as well as taking exciting adventures all over North America in their truck camper.
A celebration to honour Peter will take place in early summer.
