Obituary for Robert Shelton
Shelton, Robert Paul Leland (Bob) –
November 8, 1939 - July 6, 2023 - peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre in his 84th year. Beloved husband of 54 years to the late Joan (Mongraw) Shelton (2014). Loving father of Tracey (Scott Horsburgh) and Paul (Shiri Bartman). Cherished Papa of Colette, Tyler, and Dylan. Devoted brother of the late Shirley (John) Moncrief. Much loved brother-in-law of the late Ann Duffie, Randy Mongraw (Amelia), and Murray Babbs (the late Maureen). Proud uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bob will be missed by his dear friend Marlene Parent.
Bob’s family would like to thank Kevin Asselin for his thoughtfulness and generosity as well as Dave and Maria Forsyth for their support. A special thank you to Bob’s niece, Jane Mark, for her care and kindness, particularly while he was in hospital. Bob will also be remembered by his golf buddies from Pinecrest golf course. He was the long-time manager of Cherneys furniture stores in Peterborough, Belleville, and Oshawa, and he worked for two furniture buying groups as well as at Leons and The Brick.
The family would like to thank Dr. Morelli and the nursing staff in the Palliative Care Unit at PRHC. At Bob’s request, a private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the PRHC Palliative Care Unit, the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Peterborough Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
