Obituary for Ruth Leak (Miller)
Peacefully at PRHC in Peterborough on Monday, May 24th, 2023 in her 92nd year.
Beloved wife of the late Gareth (Garry) Leak. Predeceased by her parents, Harold and Irene Miller. Also predeceased by her loving in-laws The Rev. Garnet Leak and Agnes Leak and her close friend and sister-in-law Margaret Leak. Very loved mother of Steven Leak (Brenda Foster), and David Leak (Sophie). Remembered with love by her grandchildren, Alan (Caitlin), Dawson and Lexie. Remembered fondly and lovingly by her cousin Don Whitbread and his family in Australia. Also remembered with love by her dear friends Harry Gray (England), Olive Phillips (Renfrew), Jane Lommel (Oregon), the Ainsworth family (England), and countless friends and acquaintances.
The family wishes to extend many thanks to the paramedics, nurses, doctors and staff of PRHC who, each time she needed their care in the past year and a half, were compassionate, kind, thoughtful and caring towards her. Thank you to the many wonderful staff and residents at Sherbrooke Heights Retirement Residence who were also thoughtful, kind and understanding.
Aquamation has taken place. There will be no public memorial service. The family asks that anyone who knew Ruth, reflect on the memories you may have of her on Friday June 16. 2023, the 59th anniversary of her arriving in Canada with her two children Steven and David, from which time all manner of goodness began for us.
