Shirley, Jess, Carol and I planned a high tea for my daughter in law and granddaughter, in Stirling. Shirley, Jess, Carol and I prepared the food and my daughter-in-law and granddaughter provided the venue and fine china. We laughed (our favourite thing to do), ate and dressed in our Red Hat finery. It is just one of many wonderful memories we shared. Deb will remember us all sitting outside on Shirley's patio, at the boat house. She came down to check on us (many times) because we were laughing so much. Shirley was a good friend and I will certainly miss her, especially her laugh. My condolences to the entire family. I am so sorry to hear about Shirley. She will be truly missed. I have so many great memories ...that it's hard to just pick one.
One memory was when we went to Cobourg for a "silent retreat" weekend. You weren't allowed to talk all weekend.
Can you imagine? The four of us did it. Not easy, if you knew us. We did a lot of "quiet" laughing.
Shirley also went on a trip with some of the "Royal Rubies" to Michigan. We ate a lot of delicious food on that trip. Somehow there is always food involved when we get together, especially dessert. The Royal Rubies also went on a 104 year old carousel in Roseneath, Ontario...that's another story. She was a great friend. She was also very kind and funny. I will really miss her. Carol MacDonald
