Terry worked for Raybestos in the early years of his marriage, and then moved to Outboard Marine for many years. After a time, he decided to make a change and became a Corrections Officer at the Lindsay jail. He finally decided to fulfill a dream and bought a Trailer Park with his lifelong friends Dan and Diane Kingdom. After a few years of hard work, they moved on, sold the park and became property managers. Terry enjoyed the outdoors and meeting people, and decided to manage a gas station and occasionally worked as a taxi driver transporting children to school. He also became a landlord. Terry was never one to sit idle, and always kept busy.
Once Terry decided to retire, he and Annabeth spent several years as snowbirds in Florida and enjoyed the time they spent there, but decided they preferred to spend the time with family, especially over the holidays. When their health began to decline and terry was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer they decided to move to a year-round park and lived in a beautiful park model home in Dunsford while he endured a life-saving surgery and chemotherapy. It was a long, slow recovery, but
he did it – and due to park policy changes, they moved to their final home at Shady Acres in Keene. Terry continued his chemotherapy and dealt with several other health issues for an astonishing four more years. His daily strength and determination was truly inspirational.
Terry was an amazing, supportive husband and father. His priority was always his family. He was a very loving grandfather and great grandfather who always loved seeing his family together even when his health was bad. He always felt fortunate that his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren always made it a priority to visit him and he talked about them daily. He was also grateful that his sisters made an effort to visit him when he no longer could. He loved them very much.
He is survived by three children, Lisa, Carol, and Todd; his grandchildren Courtney and Kaytlyn; his great grandchildren Hailey, Preston, Emmett, Aryllia and Atticus; and his siblings, Deanna (Roger), Nancy and Chris (Steve). He is predeceased by his wife Joan Annabeth Preston (nee Ross) and his brother James.
In accordance with his wishes, he is to be cremated, and a joint Celebration Of Life will be held for both Annabeth and Terry on February 26th, 2023. Location and time to be announced. Donations may be made to the Cancer Society in his honour.
