Wallace John Henry, passed away suddenly at home in Peterborough, ON, on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, having recently celebrated his 85th birthday.

Wally was born in Toronto to parents Cecil and Lola. In 1958, Wally graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Engineering Physics specializing in Thermodynamics (and a minor in Bridge, so he said). He was very proud of his experience working for AV Roe Canada working on the Iroquois engine for the Avro Arrow. During that time, he learned how to program the earliest Honeywell computers. After the Arrow was shut down, he joined Ontario Hydro to help with their new use of Honeywell computers. Following that and having worked with a few consulting companies including KCS and KPMG, he eventually branched out to create a series of owned and operated management consulting firms specializing in the areas of health care and transportation involving federal, provincial and municipal governments.
Wally had a wide variety of interests and was an early adaptor of new technology. He carried on with his passion for wine making even after selling the self made vineyard that he and his wine making friends had established near Buckhorn. Many hours were spent with friends snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. Photography occupied many hours of his time. He loved taking the photos as well as developing them in his own dark room.
Wally was a kind, caring man who was always up for a chat with anyone about almost any topic one could suggest.

Wally, dearly beloved husband of Mary and loving father of Craig (Kathy), and Graham (Karen Shearer). Dear step-father of Allan (Catherine Donnelly), and Brian Green. Dear grandfather of Ryan, Jonathan and Kyle Henry. Brother of the late Glenn (surviving spouse Karen), and Roger (surviving spouse Sharon) Henry. Aquamation has taken place. Friends are invited to attend an online Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, February 20th at 11 a.m. Please register at www.AshburnhamFuneral.ca on Wally's obit page. If desired, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Wally was surely one of the great guys and will be missed by all. One of my fondest memories was when I was at the registration office to transfer the ownership of my boat and needed the reg # which I had forgotten at home. I asked the administrator if I could call my friend to get it for me and she asked if would take long. No I replied as my friend Wally ran like a Gazelle and it would only take a moment and sure enough he came through. This memory always brings a smile to my face .
Condolences to Mary and family .

We were very sorry to hear of Wally's passing. Dave first met Wally in 1973, when Wally was consulting to the Metropolitan Toronto Transportation Plan Review, and went on to work with him on a wide range of projects at Boston Gilbert Henry and Associates and related firms including Tranplan Associates from 1979 to 1981. Wally was a great boss and one of the smartest guys that we got to know. It was always great to catch up with him when he came down to meet with the old team at Tranplan Associates (1988-2001). He will be missed.
